Eschewing Elections, New Leadership Helms the Bond Hill Community Council
When former Bond Hill Community Council President Dr. Rea Waldon stepped down from her post effective July 1, many community members anticipated mid-year elections, but that is apparently not to be. According to minutes from the June 6, 2019 Community Council meeting, taken by Interim Secretary Celeste Wonson, the assembled community members decided that no election would be held. The Council decided that Vice President Vickie Jackson, who I have profiled previously, will assume the post. There was no official record of the vote count in favor of elevating Ms. Jackson.
It is not clear as to whether Ms. Jackson intends to serve out the entirety of Dr. Waldon’s term, which ends in December 2020.
The elevation of Ms. Jackson to President leaves Bond Hill Community Council with no Vice President and an appointed, interim Secretary. A community member has volunteered to serve as Sergeant-at-Arms. Ms. Rhonda Hudson, who was re-elected in December 2018, remains Treasurer.
