4788 Reading Road is an Italian Revival that boasts truly unusual detail with its indoor vintage fountain, marble mosaic kitchen, and updated bathrooms. The exterior offers a scalloped privacy fence and herringbone pattern patio with water feature on a .23 acre lot. Erected in 1927 and featured in that year’s Beautiful Home Exposition at Cincinnati Music Hall, this home was originally built as the “Avalon” Red Seal model home, the first of its kind in Cincinnati.

Though I infrequently write about my own projects at The Bond Hill Journal, after a grueling 18-month effort I am thrilled to share that the Cincinnati City Council has granted designation of The Bond Hill Bella Vista Historic District, by unanimous vote, 9-0.
Update, 09/17: Mr. Miller has been located and is safe.

When former Bond Hill Community Council President Dr. Rea Waldon stepped down from her post effective July 1, many community members anticipated mid-year elections, but that is apparently not to be. According to minutes from the June 6, 2019 Community Council meeting, taken by Interim Secretary Celeste Wonson, the assembled community members decided that no election would be held. The Council decided that Vice President Vickie Jackson, who I have profiled previously, will assume the post. There was no official record of the vote count in favor of elevating Ms. Jackson.
Local 12 (WKRC) reports that amidst financial struggles and an increased need for its services, Cincinnati’s largest homeless shelter, Bethany House Services, has plans to consolidate its programs in Bond Hill. The programs, which are currently spread across five shelters in Fairmount, Westwood, College Hill and Bond Hill, will be anchored in a new 50,000 square foot, $500,000 facility adjoining St. Aloysius.
You absolutely do not want to miss The Crown Jewels of Jazz, every Wednesday in July, starting on July 3. This has instantly become one of Bond Hill's premiere events. Join your friends and neighbors as you enjoy live music in our own neighborhood. Brought to us by Kathy Wade's Learning Through Art and host of generous sponsors, this is a highlight of summer for our family.
From Washington Park in Over the Rhine to Central Park in Forest Park, activities are taking place at parks throughout Hamilton County, but some parks in the county aren’t as lucky. One of those unlucky parks is Bond Hill Playground, a rather large, but somewhat hidden park in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Bond Hill. However, this park wasn’t always this way, and it doesn’t have to remain this way.
1546 Elizabeth Place officially doesn't hit the market for a few days but the sellers were nice enough to allow me share their 5 bedroom, 2.5 bath home today. This center hall Federal Revival is on a tree-lined street with a generous set-back and a .33 acre lot. At over 2,800 square feet, this is a lot of house for the $215,000 asking price. Lovingly restore by the current owners, there are updated mechanicals, a sparklingly new marble bath, 28 replacement windows, a renovated kitchen PLUS butler's pantry, a charming...
